- There are two main types of GRE examinations: the GRE General Test and the GRE Subject Tests.
- GRE General Test: This is the most common type of GRE examination taken by applicants for graduate programs. It assesses verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and analytical writing skills. The GRE General Test is required by most universities for admission into various graduate programs.
- GRE Subject Tests: These tests are designed to evaluate the knowledge and expertise of applicants in specific subject areas. Currently, there are Subject Tests available in seven disciplines: Biology, Chemistry, Literature in English, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology, and Biochemistry, Cell, and Molecular Biology. These tests are usually taken by applicants who wish to showcase their proficiency and depth of knowledge in a particular subject.
